Congregate Meals
The Congregate Meals program is provided under the guidelines of Title III C-1 of the Older Americans Act and is defined as meals served in a congregate setting, which includes a meal providing a minimum of thirty-three and one third percent (33 1/3%) of the Dietery Reference Intakes, and that complies with the most current Dietary Guidelines for Americans, provides nutrition and health promotion education, nutrition risk screening, and opportunities for socialization.

Elder Abuse Prevention and Education
Programs in this area are provided under the guidelines of Title VIIB of the Older Americans Act and are designed to develop, strengthen, and carry out the prevention and treatment of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation.

Family Caregiver Support
Programs in this area are provided under the guidelines of Title IIIE of the Older Americans Act and may include information to caregivers about available services; assistance to caregivers in gaining access to the services; individual counseling; organization of support groups; training to caregivers to assist them in decision making and problem solving related to their caregiving roles; respite care to enable caregivers to be temporarily relieved from their caregiving responsibilities; and supplemental services, on a limited basis, to complement the care provided by caregivers.

Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy
HICAP services are established under the guidelines of the Older Californians Act to provide counseling, advocacy, education and legal referral for Medicare Beneficiaries, including Medicare Beneficiaries by virtue of a disability, and those persons imminent of Medicare eligibility.
These services are offered directly by PSA 2 Area Agency on Aging.

Health Promotion Services
Health Promotion services are provided under the guidelines of Title III D of the Older American's Act and are designed to educate and empower older adults to lead healthy lifestyles.
These services are offered by service providers in our area within the counties listed below.
In Siskiyou County, PSA 2 is currently offering Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP) classes. Classes are held on Wednesdays, beginning April 12th, for six weeks, at the Mt. Shasta Senior Nutrition Program, located at 1315 Nixon Rd., Mt. Shasta, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information or to sign up, please call the Mt. Home Delivered Meals
The Home Delivered Meals program is provided under the guidelines of Title III C-2 of the Older Americans Act and is defined as meals provided to homebound older individuals providing a minimum of thirty-three and one third percent (33 1/3%) of the Dietery Reference Intakes, and that complies with the most current Dietary Guidelines for Americans, nutrition and health promotion and nutrition risk screening.

Information and Assistance
The Information and Assistance Program is provided under the guidelines of Title III B of the Older Americans Act and is designed to link older adults to the appropriate services that will best fulfill their individual needs.

Long-Term Care (Ombudsman)
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman program is provided under the guidelines of Titles VII A and III B of the Older Americans Act and provides for advocacy services to or on behalf of residents of long-term care facilities, including, but not limited to: investigation and resolution of complaints; training of personnel; promotion of and attendance at resident and family councils; representation of residents' interests before governmental agencies; analysis and monitoring of the development and implementation of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and other governmental policies and actions.
These services are offered directly by PSA 2 Area Agency on Aging.
Senior Legal Services
Legal Services were established under the guidelines of Title III B of the Older American's Act. The purpose of the Legal Services Program is to increase availability and quality of legal services to individuals 60 years of age and older, and assist these persons with a variety of legal issues.

Supportive Services
Programs in this area are provided under the guidelines of Title IIIB of the Older Americans Act and may include but are not limited to a variety of services such as personal care, homemaker, chore, adult day care, adult day health, case management, assisted transportation, transportation, legal assistance, information and assistance, outreach, and long-term care ombudsman.

Transportation

The Transportation Program is provided under the guidelines of Title III B of the Older American's Act and is designed to enable program participants aged 60 and above to continue daily activities such as doctor appointments, shopping and attending dining center meals.
